Meet the partners

Andre is Black Maple's Managing Partner in Canada, leading audit and assurance engagements from Toronto and Ottawa under Canadian Auditing Standards. His focus is public and near-public companies: TSX and TSX-V issuers, companies preparing for a listing, and Canadian subsidiaries of international groups. That means the areas where junior teams get into difficulty, section 3061 and mineral property accounting, flow-through share renunciation, going concern at exploration stage, and the continuous disclosure obligations that follow a listing. Before Canada he spent his career in listed audit at Mazars, Grant Thornton and PKF, working on AIM and Main Market entities and the reporting scrutiny that comes with them. Few auditors have signed off under both ISA (UK) and CAS, which is why cross-border groups reporting into two regulators tend to find their way to him. At Mazars he was also involved in the design and build of audit software from scratch, leading the team across the UK and the firm's head office in France. Deep listed-audit experience on two continents, plus hands-on involvement in designing the tools auditors use, shapes how we run engagements at Black Maple. Outside work he plays rugby, which is where most of his Montreal client introductions have come from.

Ben leads Black Maple in the UK and the Middle East as Managing Partner and Responsible Individual. He brings over 15 years of experience gained at top 10 firms, spanning audit, capital-markets advisory, AIM and Main Market listed businesses, and complex reporting environments. He takes a disciplined, commercial and pragmatic approach to audit quality, risk assessment and stakeholder communication. Away from work, Ben likes playing sport, particularly padel and tennis, and spending time with his family.

Sofía is a Chief Financial Officer (Director Financiero) and leads Black Maple in Madrid, providing fractional CFO and financial support to companies operating across Spain and Spanish-speaking markets. She combines senior financial leadership with an international perspective, applied to Spanish reporting and regulatory requirements.

Helomi is a Partner at Black Maple, where she leads the firm's technical accounting and reporting practice. She advises on the application of IFRS, prepares and reviews financial statements, and manages group consolidations for clients across the firm's regions, including subsidiaries reporting into parents under a different framework. She is a chartered accountant with over sixteen years of experience across audit and corporate finance, including listed company reporting. Following her training contract she moved into senior in-house roles, serving as Acting Chief Accountant and subsequently as Group Financial Manager of a listed group, with responsibility for preparing group and separate financial statements to statutory reporting deadlines. Her work concentrates on the technical questions that determine whether a reporting cycle runs to plan: framework selection, the treatment of complex or non-standard transactions, consolidations arising part way through a period, and the quality of disclosure. She also advises on financial process design, budgeting and forecasting.
